We are looking for a Quality Control Manager to fill a critical role at PFS. This role will influence and guide the entire operation in terms of the approach to quality, and requires the skill, ability, and determination to establish the right solutions, and manage the quality of every process. Ultimately, the challenge of this highly visible position is to ensure that the quality of all of our products meet the standards identified, and that the contribution to overall quality of each operation is understood.

POSITION:
 
The primary role of the Quality Control Manager is understand and implement quality processes throughout the plant that determine the quality of every product shipped. This role creates and evaluates standards, implements procedures, conducts audits, and reports on the quality of every process in a manner that maximizes efficiency.
 
You will develop an understanding of existing manufacturing processes and production work flows from receipt of materials such as ink and stock, through printing and UV operations, bindery operations such as cutting, slitting, folding, to packaging and shipment of products to customers. You will evaluate processes and systems, analyze data, evaluate technology and establish quality control procedures, implement inspection and data collection requirements. You will be involved in optimizing printing press settings and monitoring the printing process before, during and after print involving data including printing material parameters, parameters of printing inks and consumables, and target values of the printing process.
 
This role directs all aspects of a quality assurance program, ensuring all quality issues are identified and resolved. This includes overseeing inspections and audits, participating in vendor evaluations, investigating product quality problems and recommending changes or improvements while creating or maintaining appropriate documentation and reports.
 
 
Bottom line, you will figure out what needs to be done, and the best way to establish and meet all quality expectations.
 
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Produce Quality process documentation.
  • Create norms and standards for product quality.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base on quality of the product line.
  • Create processes for communication with production managers and other production personnel on QC issues.
  • Act as a liaison between production and QC teams.
  • Create and establish process for internal audits.
  • Create and establish process for vendor management.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Industrial Engineering, and 3 years of relevant professional quality control experience in a technology driven manufacturing environment or a Master Pressman with background and experience in color, problem resolution recognition, with experience on large printers.   You must be familiar and knowledgeable of all commercial standards, guidelines, processes and procedural instructions for production of multi-color printed products with repeatable quality recognized in the graphic arts and printing industries.
 
To qualify for consideration, you MUST also have:
  • Experience establishing quality standards for material handling and bindery or similar manufacturing process operations.
  • Experience with internal audits and auditing quality processes.
  • Experience managing vendor quality and auditing vendors.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with demonstrated expertise in relevant quality standards and overall quality control principles.
  • Exceptional documentation skills and familiarity with quality related documentation processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and able to communicate effectively with plant and corporate management, business partners, and all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure or in time sensitive situations.
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to lead group discussions and elicit problems.
  • A conscientious and disciplined approach to work.
  • Experience with CMMI, Six Sigma, ISO 9000/9001, industrial automation, or material resource planning are all desirable plusses.
