POSITION:
 
The UV Press Operator functions under close progressive supervision and performs a full range of duties required to operate a UV press including set-up, operation and maintenance of sheet fed UV presses for coating illustrations, designs, postcards, business cards and other printed materials as specified.
 
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Review job run orders to determine job specifications such as spot, full or template UV, quantities required and advise press crew of these specifications.
  • Mounts screens and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Set up press and check samples for UV coverage alignment and registration.
  • Group press sheets types to effect the least radical and time consuming press changes throughout a production cycle.
  • Monitor regular press run for quality consistency, UV curing, and make adjustments as required.
  • Direct activities of press crew and ensure that safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Use problem-solving techniques to enhance the production process.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading Press runs and supplies; may operate shrink wrap machine; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Interact with other employees as necessary to guide operation of the press department.
  • Work with Production Manager and Shift Leader to ensure completion of duties.
  • Undergo training as necessary to remain current with machine capabilities.
  • Clean and lubricate press according to instructions; daily, weekly, and bi-weekly as specified.
  • Work with Shift Leader to enhance and respond to the jobs Inspection and quality control needs of non-production areas.
  • Work with the Production Manager to ensure adequate equipment servicing and repairs.
  • Work with the Production Manager, Shift Leaders to ensure the presence, inventorying and ordering of needed supplies and parts.
  • Serve as task-manager for part-time staff in the work area.
  • Continually monitor the backlog of due jobs in production area, and make production changes If necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Receive "RED HOT" and other jobs for UV coating and ensure, that their deadlines are met.
  • Maintain and clean work area and equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
This position requires a High School diploma or a Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred) in a relevant technical discipline such as engineering or printing technology and at least 3 years of relevant professional experience working with UV presses such as Kotai, Sakuri, or Cyberpress.
 
To qualify for consideration, you MUST also have:
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of UV presses and related equipment; specifically Sakurai Maestro UV Coating machines preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and related applications and ability to use desktop computer, handheld device, and associated software.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Reliable, punctual, self-directed, and flexible to changing priorities or circumstances.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills with proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse work environment.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and able to communicate effectively with plant and corporate management, business partners, and all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure or in time sensitive situations.
